Jurists in Residence
Senior District Judge John Specia (ret), has served as Jurist in Residence for the Office of Court Administration since 2009. Judge Specia acts as a consultant, trainer and speaker, and provides expert advice on matters that involve child protection courts. He has provided valuable support to the state's court improvement efforts in his role of judicial liasion with CPS in collaborative efforts to solve system problems. He periodically sends short question and answer Jurist in Residence letters via email to Texas judges who hear CPS cases.
District Judge Robin Sage (ret), joined Judge Specia to become the second Jurist in Residence for the Office of Court Administration in 2011 when she retired from the 307th Family District Court in Longview. She has been an Assigned Judge for the CPC Northeastern Texas Foster Care Docket since her retirement, and like Judge Specia, Judge Sage has been active in Court Improvement Program activities since the mid-1990s. One of her first tasks will be to update the Commission's CPS Judicial Bench Book.
