Milbrey E. Raney joined the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial Commission for Children, Youth and Families as a Staff Attorney in April 2012, served as Training  Director from 2018-2020, and currently serves as the Assistant Director. She is responsible for judicial training and education primarily through the Commission’s annual Child Welfare Judges Conference, the Texas Center for the Judiciary’s annual Family Justice Conference’s CPS CLE Track, and the Commission’s bi-annual Child Protection Court Convening, along with coordinating judicial scholarships. Additionally, Ms. Raney provides support to the attorney training and education efforts of the Training Committee and assists with the Commission’s Judicial and Attorney Resource Letters and JIR communiques. Prior to working for the Supreme Court, she worked as a family law attorney and represented children and parents involved in child protection cases, and she also served as a member and then Vice Chair of the Travis County Child Welfare Board for five years. Ms. Raney earned a Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law in 1995 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Davidson College in 1989.
